Oscar Pistorius Makes TIME Magazine’s List of 100 Most Influential People
TIME Magazine has announced its list of 100 Most Influential People in the World, better known as the TIME 100. Joining a mixed-bag of personalities including Claire Danes, Stephen Colbert, Adele, Lionel Messi, Angela Merkel, Mitt Romney, Ayatollah Khamenei and Benjamin Netanyahu on this year’s prestigious list is South African sporting hero Oscar Pistorius.
Pistorius, a double-amputee sprinter known as “Blade Runner” for his specialised J-shaped artificial limbs, is recognised for his remarkable determination to compete against able-bodied runners in the 2012 London Olympics.
